The term storyboard refers to the illustrations or images displayed in sequence to help pre-visualize a film, animation, or motion graphic. The storyboarding process was developed by Walt Disney in the early 1930’s.

Here is an example of one of the first story boards:


Storyboarding is an integral part of the pre-production process, and is used in pretty much all productions today.
